Premiered in 2019, directed by Marta Domingo and enriched with choreography from Compañía Antonio Gades, Plácido Domingo sings Germont on
opening night alongside Nino Machaidze as Violetta and Vittorio Grigolo as Alfredo,
conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti. Plácido Domingo will conduct the second and
the third performances. Featuring one of the most iconic scores of all time, Verdi’s
masterpiece tells the story of Violetta and Alfredo played out against the hypocrisy
of the fashionable upper classes. When Alfredo’s father appeals directly to Violetta
to relinquish her one chance of happiness, her act of self-sacrifice costs her the
ultimate price.
