The ROHM pipe organ is one of the opera house’s defining features and the envy of musical institutions around the world. Weighing 50 tonnes yet fully movable within the proscenium, it is remarkable both as an instrument and as a feat of engineering. Each year it takes centre stage in the annual Pipe Organ Concert, offering audiences the opportunity to experience its extraordinary scale and versatility through a programme celebrating the richness of the pipe organ repertoire. For the second consecutive year, the concert forms part of a wider Pipe Organ Factory week of learning and performance activities exploring the instrument, its heritage and its continuing place in contemporary music-making.
