SUKHISHVILI GEORGIAN NATIONAL BALLET

The Georgian National Ballet was co-founded by Iliko Sukhishvili in 1945 and is still managed by the family. With a unique choreography that combines folk dance traditions with those of classical ballet and contemporary dance, the company performs worldwide with 100 dancers and a live band. Many years of exacting training underlie the difficult athletic feats performed by the men and the effortless footwork and graceful movements of the women. The Georgian National Ballet appears in prestigious venues such as La Scala, Royal Albert Hall, the Roman Coliseum, the Metropolitan Opera and Madison Square Garden, and now, the Royal Opera House Muscat.
