ROHM’s evening of Inshad features renowned religious bands and highly respected performers. Al Masarra, a traditional Yemeni band, presents songs in noble praise of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Oman’s Al Zawiya Band combines traditional culture with modern Inshad, as members continue their grandfathers’ practice of al Malid, known as ‘the axis of the art of Omani song’. Performing in international festivals, Morocco’s Arhoom Al Baqali band seeks to propagate the art of Sufism. Syrian singer, Bashar Zarqan draws on Arab poetry from classical to modern times, composing songs based on the content and rhythm of poems. Educated in classical Arab and Sufi music, Tanzanian Yahya Bihaki has a voice with legendary status in her homeland.
