On 26 February 2026, the Royal Opera House Muscat welcomed audiences to a deeply reflective opening of its Ramadan series, Evenings of Sufi and Inshaad.
The inaugural concert featured renowned vocalist Mohammed Sarwat with his orchestra, presenting a programme that brought Sufi and Inshaad repertoire into a rich orchestral setting. Devotional poetry and melody unfolded with grace and sincerity, creating an atmosphere of contemplation appropriate to the beginning of the holy month. The audience responded with warmth and attentiveness, embracing an evening that honoured both tradition and musical artistry.
This concert marked the first of three gatherings in the series. On 5 March, the Syrian Heritage Group led by Mustafa Haji Hamdo will present traditional Inshaad shaped by powerful collective voice and enduring melodic forms. The series will conclude on 9 March with Omani Night, celebrating the Sultanate's devotional heritage with Mohammed Al Wahaibi, Yahya Bihaqi, Ali Al Alawi, Al Wifaq Choir Group led by Abdullah Al Muharbi and Awtar Al Takht led by Yaqoub Al Harrasi.
Together, these evenings offer a space for reflection, shared spirit and the enduring beauty of sacred music during Ramadan.
