Tuesday 2 December 2025
Emmaline and her Jazz Ensemble delivered two vibrant and uplifting performances at ROHMA on 27 and 28 November, creating an atmosphere that was both engaging and warmly energetic. The Nashville based artist captivated audiences with her distinctive smoky vocals and graceful stage presence, enhanced by her virtuosic jazz violin solos that added an exciting spark throughout the evening. Her set, drawn from her intimate collection of jazz pop works, resonated with listeners and showcased her talent as a writer, producer and performer.

The programme offered a rich mix of originals and reimagined classics, opening with a bright and soulful take on Sunny and moving into the dreamlike All My Sweetest Dreams. Emmaline's smooth, elegant interpretation of Fly Me to the Moon drew warm applause, while original favourites such as Retro Kind of Love, Shy, Soft Spot and Old Soul Love highlighted her unmistakable personal style. A lively James Brown medley brought an energising burst of rhythm, balanced by reflective moments in These Are the Memories and the breezy charm of Everything's Breezy.

The second half featured a special set with acclaimed pianist Anthony Strong. Together they delivered a charismatic and playful They Can't Take That Away from Me, followed by tender and witty renditions of Somethin' Stupid and Bring It on Home to Me. The evening closed with a spirited performance of Just One of Those Things, showcasing the full ensemble at its most dynamic.

Throughout the programme, the Jazz Ensemble offered outstanding support, bringing warmth, colour and effortless musicianship to every arrangement. Anthony Strong's return to the opera house added further flair and sophistication, rounding off two memorable evenings that celebrated artistry, collaboration and the joy of live performance.
