Each season, the Royal Opera House Muscat presents outstanding singers in popular genres including various kinds of jazz. ROHM is pleased to present British singer and songwriter Sarah Jane Morris who straddles rock, blues, jazz and soul in an extraordinary four-octave range. Morris is known for her strikingly sensual voice; and, according to Vogue Italia, she is rated by some aficionados as "one of the world's great jazz-soul vocalists of the past twenty years".
Sarah Jane Morris' first big hit came in the mid 1980's with the song, Don't Leave Me This Way. A number of solo albums later, with continental pop stardom along the way, and remarkable collaboration in recording, film, theatre and contemporary opera, Sarah Jane Morris continues to scale greater heights in a unique and ever-evolving career. Devoted to the people of Africa, her latest album, recorded with the Soweto Gospel Choir and a stellar ensemble of rock, soul and world musicians, juxtaposes visceral lyricism with intense moral engagement.
